Not-for-profit organizations play a vital role in society, nourishing the heart and soul of the community while passionately devoted to the causes they serve. The following individuals and corporations have exercised their support for the goals, the families, and the mission that Reach for the Rainbow believes in. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported the charity during a year of economic uncertainty and remained steadfast friends of the agency and true advocates for the cause of inclusion in the coming years. Trillium LogoOntario Trillium Foundation
The Ontario Trillium Foundation awarded a significant grant of $295,100 over three years for the development of advisory committees in the cities of London, Hamilton and Sudbury for Reach for the Rainbow’s integrated recreational programs for children and youth with disabilities in Ontario. The three year strategic plan will implement a concentrated outreach campaign directly beneficial to these areas, while utilizing the strength of community resources – the most influential and with the most impact being the voices of those who serve to champion the cause of integration. We look forward to the opportunities! The three areas have organized the following events:

  • London
    Benefit Salsa Nights, in support of Reach for the Rainbow at Up on Carling on February 25th, 2009 and April 15, 2009
  • Hamilton
    Ancaster Heritage Days Soccer Tournament held on June 13th & 14th, 2010 with proceeds from the Hamilton Sunset Rotary Club supporting Reach for the Rainbow.
  • Sudbury
    The Sudbury Theatre Centre presented Let’s Play Munsch and donated proceeds for the April 17th and 18th, 2009 performances. The Autism Coffee Chat group held an awareness Film Night May 1, 2009 also in support of Reach for the Rainbow.


CA Golf Day for Children’s Charities For a seventh consecutive year Reach for the Rainbow is thrilled to be the recipient of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario tournament’s proceeds, with the agency accepting a $24,000 cheque from President and CEO Rod Barr and COO Nora Murrant. Reach for the Rainbow graciously acknowledges the ICAO’s support to further our agency’s cause of providing integrated recreational opportunities to children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities, their families and the communities in which they belong.

TD Securities Employee Charity Auction Committee For the sixth consecutive year TD Securities employees held an auction to raise money for charities supported through employee volunteerism. Reach for the Rainbow would like to thank the TD Securities Employee Charity Auction Committee for endorsing its efforts with a generous donation of $20,000 in 2009. A special thanks to Jennifer Randles and 2009 Co-chairs Glenn Gibson, Managing Director and Bruce Langstaff, Vice-President & Director.

President’s Choice Children’s Charity President's Choice Children's Charity is dedicated to helping children who are physically or developmentally disabled. Their aim is to remove some of the obstacles that make everyday living extremely difficult and to provide young people with a renewed sense of dignity, independence and freedom. Our sincere gratitude for the foundation’s gift of $20,000 to Reach for the Rainbow.

RBC Foundation In support of Reach for the Rainbow’s Case Management and Resource Visit Program, the RBC Foundation contributed $20,000 in October of 2009. The RBC Foundation is committed to making a lasting social impact through inspired, responsible giving and by building strong partnerships with the charitable sector. They invested more than $51.5 million with charities in hundreds of communities worldwide in 2008.

Harry E. Foster Foundation The primary emphasis of the Harry E. Foster Foundation, established in 1954, is to support programs and projects for people with developmental disabilities in order to continue the interests of the founder, Harry “Red" Foster. We thank the Foundation for their $15,000 contribution to continue to share his vision and work towards an ever increasing awareness of the importance of participation in all aspects of living for everyone.

SIG Electronics Christmas Fundraising Round Up SIG Electronics chose Reach for the Rainbow for their inaugural Christmas round-up for the month of December in 2008 in which a percentage of sales was donated to Reach for the Rainbow, which raised $10,000! A special thanks to SIG electronics who also support Reach for the Rainbow through auction product donations for all of our events.

WB Family Foundation Mr. and Mrs. Brian Beamish were instrumental in the charity’s receipt of $10,000 from the WB Family Foundation, a private Canadian charitable foundation that strives to improve the quality of life for individuals through initiatives in medical research, education and health care.

 

Tim Hortons The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign was a sweet success with $9,000 being raised for Reach for the Rainbow. Over 5,000 of the special chocolate chunk cookies were sold between September 21st and 27th at three Tim Hortons locations across the Bolton area. A special thanks to the Stafford Family, Heather Savage, Councilor Nick DeBoer and the Town of Caledon.

Ipsos Reid The Ipsos Charity Trust is a planned giving and event fundraising effort in support of worthwhile health, education, anti-poverty, and environmental organizations in the community -- all chosen by Ipsos employees.  Reach for the Rainbow were one of the recipients of this generosity in 2009, and received over $8,000 towards integrated recreational opportunities.

Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. A grant of $7,000 was provided by Rothmans, Benson & Hedges Inc. in support of integrated recreational opportunities for children and youth with physical and developmental disabilities.

 

Impulse Solutions Special thanks to Mr. Rajen Gandhi and Impulse Solutions! For the 5th year in a row, Reach for the Rainbow was chosen as one of their “charities of choice”. Based on advertising pledges for “The Annual Yoga and Pilates Studio Guide”, RFTR has received over $6,100 to date!

LUSH LUSH chose RFTR as one of the charity recipients of funds from their “Charity Pot”. These funds were used to purchase five rope harnesses and two joggers that were used this past summer and are now part of our Loan Cupboard. A special thanks to Erika Edwards.

 

Toronto Board of Trade Golf Tournament On Monday, May 25, 2009 at the Country Club in Woodbridge, the Toronto Board of Trade invited their members for 18 holes of golf on-course lunch, dinner and exceptional networking opportunities, all for a great cause – Reach for the Rainbow! The event raised $5,000 for the charity.

George Lunan Foundation The George Lunan Foundation generously provided a $1,500 grant in support of the regional wait list for Reach for the Rainbow families and participants.

Marion Ethel & Frederick John Hamm Foundation We graciously acknowledge the donation of $1,500 from the Marion Ethel & Frederick John Hamm Foundation towards integrated opportunities in summer camps and year round programs across Ontario.

FUEL Advertising – Global Day of Giving Draftfcb, the worldwide marketing communications agency, activated a network-wide philanthropic event called the “Global Day of Giving” on November 6th, 2009 designed to support causes benefitting children.  Offices throughout the agency’s network, which included long time Reach for the Rainbow Design Sponsor FUEL Advertising, conducted different charitable activities throughout the day to aid a worthy children’s organization within its respective area, and raised $630 for the agency.  Special thanks to Steve Barton and Cyndy Carruthers.

8th Annual Reach for the Rainbow Week – June 6th – 12th

The City of Toronto and the Honourable Mayor David Miller proclaimed June 6th - 12th, 2010 Reach for the Rainbow Week, to recognize the importance of integration and the valuable contribution Reach for the Rainbow and its many partners make by creating a city where everyone belongs. The aim of Reach for the Rainbow Week is to increase awareness of the value of integrated settings for people with disabilities and their communities.



In Memorium Giving
A heartfelt appreciation of the families and individuals who donate to Reach for the Rainbow through In Memorium giving and gifts on behalf of those who have passed away. The Stezik Family has donated in the name of Ted Stezik for the past four years.
