Oakville Half Marathon A special thank you to the Landmark Sport Group and the Oakville Half Marathon for designating Reach for the Rainbow as one of the recipient charities this year! Capital One Ultimate Charity Golf Challenge The Capital One Ultimate Charity Golf Challenge was a two day golf tournament held at the prestigious Fox Harb’r Resort in Wallace, Nova Scotia with 100 of Canada’s corporate coming together to make a difference for the 13th year by playing in the Ultimate Charity Golf Challenge. Reach for the Rainbow would once again like to thank Capital One for coming on board to sponsor this golf tournament which raised over $165,000 in support of integrated recreational programs for children and young adults with physical and or developmental disabilities. “Capital One has been supporting Reach for the Rainbow for the past four years because by working together we are improving the lives of some very special children,” said Ian Cunningham, Capital One. “I’d also like to welcome Gord Stellick and Jay Triano to the tournament, and thank them for helping us to make this fundraising event a success.” This event exemplifies the continued support of our generous sponsors, donors, and guests. Whether it was the donation of extraordinary auction items, golfer gifts or prizes; the tournament crew; or participation in our one day event, we gratefully recognize the contributions made by our many supporters. The television special documenting the 2010 Capital One Ultimate Charity Golf Challenge and starring Susan Hay, aired on Sunday, September 5th, 2010 on the Global Television Network. This year’s tournament will be held April 11th-12th in Orlando, Florida at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge and Lake Nona Golf & Country Club.
12th Annual Danforth BIA Charity Road Hockey Challenge Once again, Reach for the Rainbow was thrilled to be chosen as one of the charities sharing in the proceeds of the 12th Annual Danforth BIA Charity Road Hockey Challenge on May 16th, 2010. Since its inception in 1999, this event, endorsed by the Danforth Business Improvement Association, has raised more than $280,000 for children’s charitable causes. With roads closed and energetic teams, monies were raised through team pledges, the sale of silent auction items and corporate endorsements. A special thanks to Linda Yielding for her support of the charity.
3rd Annual Manitoulin Traction Charity Classic A special thanks to Gord Smith, President of Manitoulin Transport and Richard O’Brien, Regional Vice President of Traction who became the Title Sponsors of the Manitoulin Traction Charity Golf Classic in 2008. The weather and atmosphere of Rocky Crest and Muskoka Bay Club on July 5th & 6th, 2010 lent itself to a wonderful event that generated over $100,000 for the charity. Whether it was the donation of extraordinary auction items, gifts and prizes; the tournament crew or outstanding golfer participation, we gratefully recognize the contributions made by our many supporters. Thank you also to ALL our tournament sponsors who so generously contributed and made this such a huge success. Their continued commitment to Reach for the Rainbow, the children and families we serve is truly immeasurable. 6th Annual Direct Energy Rick Vaive Celebrity Classic, presented by American Express This year’s event was held on August 3rd, 2010 at RattleSnake Golf Course and raised over $36,000 for RFTR! The day-long tournament provided 96 golfers with the opportunity to mingle with the likes of Rick Vaive, Rod Black, Wendel Clark, and other hockey greats! We would like to thank ClubLink, Mr. Charles Lorimer, Mr. Vaive and the organizers of this event for choosing to support Reach for the Rainbow.

Scotiabank This year, the 2010 Spirit of Giving Award was given to Scotiabank Toronto West District in recognition of the long-time support, including internal fundraising efforts to the amount of $30,000 for Reach for the Rainbow.
Ontario Trillium Foundation The Ontario Trillium Foundation awarded a significant grant of $295,100 over three years for the development of advisory committees in the cities of Sudbury, London and Hamilton for Reach for the Rainbow’s integrated recreational programs for children and youth with disabilities in Ontario. Now entering its’ third year of a strategic plan to implement a concentrated outreach campaign directly beneficial to these areas, while utilizing the strength of community resources – the most influential and with the most impact being the voices of those who serve to champion the cause of integration. We look forward to the opportunities!
Walk a Mile in My Shoe The 4th annual walkathon held in London, Mississauga, Hamilton, Barrie and Brampton, Ontario on September 18th, 2010 generated $20,000 in support of the charity! Bill Hiltz has been a participant for over ten years through Reach for the Rainbow. He and Reach for the Rainbow Community Investment Manager Maggie Patten invited the public to participate in the fundraiser where a simple walk in the park can be challenging when facing special barriers. A special thanks to Joyce Balaz for her continued support. The September 17th, 2011 event promises even great things – we hope to see everyone out in support!
CA Golf Day for Children’s Charities For a seventh consecutive year Reach for the Rainbow is thrilled to be the recipient of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario tournament’s proceeds, with the agency accepting a $20,000 cheque from President and CEO Rod Barr and COO Nora Murrant. Reach for the Rainbow graciously acknowledges the ICAO’s support to further our agency’s cause of providing integrated recreational opportunities to children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities, their families and the communities in which they belong.
TD Securities Employee Charity Auction Committee For the sixth consecutive year TD Securities employees held an auction to raise money for charities supported through employee volunteerism. Reach for the Rainbow would like to thank the TD Securities Employee Charity Auction Committee for endorsing its efforts with a generous donation of $15,000 in 2010. President’s Choice Children’s Charity President's Choice Children's Charity is dedicated to helping children who are physically or developmentally challenged. Their aim is to remove some of the obstacles that make everyday living extremely difficult and to provide young people with a renewed sense of dignity, independence and freedom. Our sincere gratitude for the foundation’s gift of $20,000 to Reach for the Rainbow in both 2009 and 2010.
Harry E. Foster Foundation The primary emphasis of the Harry E. Foster Foundation, established in 1954, is to support programs and projects for people with developmental disabilities in order to continue the interests of the founder, Harry “Red" Foster. We thank the Foundation for their $15,000 contribution to continue to share his vision and work towards an ever increasing awareness of the importance of participation in all aspects of living for everyone.
SIG Electronics Christmas Fundraising Round Up SIG Electronics chose Reach for the Rainbow for their inaugural Christmas round-up for the month of December in 2010 in which a percentage of sales was donated to Reach for the Rainbow, which raised $15,000! A special thanks to SIG Electronics who also support Reach for the Rainbow through auction product donations for all of our events.
WB Family Foundation Mr. and Mrs. Brian Beamish were instrumental in the charity’s receipt of $10,000 from the WB Family Foundation, a private Canadian charitable foundation that strives to improve the quality of life for individuals through initiatives in medical research, education and health care.
Tim Hortons The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign was a sweet success with $14,600 being raised for Reach for the Rainbow. Over 5,000 of the special chocolate chunk cookies were sold between September 20th and 26th at Tim Hortons locations in Tottenham, Schombery, Caledon and Bolton. A special thanks to the Stafford Family, Gerry Lawlor, Heather Savage, Councilor Nick DeBoer and the Town of Caledon.
LUSH LUSH chose RFTR as one of the charity recipients of funds from their “Charity Pot”. These funds were used to purchase two all-terrain wheelchairs that were used this past summer and are now part of our Loan Cupboard. A special thanks to Alyssa Jacobs for her continued support.
George Lunan Foundation The George Lunan Foundation generously provided a $1,500 grant in support of the regional wait list for Reach for the Rainbow families and participants.
Marion Ethel & Frederick John Hamm Foundation We graciously acknowledge the donation of $1,500 from the Marion Ethel & Frederick John Hamm Foundation towards integrated opportunities in summer camps and year round programs across Ontario.
FUEL Advertising – Global Day of Giving Draftfcb, the worldwide marketing communications agency, activated a network-wide philanthropic event called the “Global Day of Giving” on November 6th, 2010 designed to support causes benefitting children. Offices throughout the agency’s network, which included long time Reach for the Rainbow Design Sponsor FUEL Advertising, conducted different charitable activities throughout the day to aid a worthy children’s organization within its respective area, and raised $1,200 for the agency. Product Donors A large part of our fundraising success comes from the live and silent auctions conducted at the majority of our events. A tremendous thank you for the generosity of our product donors who provide excellent and high quality items for the agency.
Sponsor-A-Camper This Reach for the Rainbow’s initiative allows for the opportunity to make a real difference in an RFTR camper’s life. Contributions help ensure that children with disabilities, our campers, continue to flourish under Reach for the Rainbow’s unique 1:1 support worker model program, while also enabling the agency to accommodate the overwhelming demand for new participants.
