Something to Smile About Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign Raises $9,000 for Reach for the Rainbow
Bolton, ON – Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign was a sweet success with $9,000 being raised for Reach for the Rainbow. Over 5,000 of the special chocolate chunk cookies were sold between September 21st and 27th at three Tim Hortons locations across the Bolton area. A special cheque was presented to Reach for the Rainbow on November 24th at the Tim Hortons located at Hwy 7 & Hwy 50 in Bolton, Ontario.
“I would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who helped to make this year’s campaign such an overwhelming success,” said Barry Stafford, Tim Hortons Store Owner. “Raising awareness for Reach for the Rainbow through the Smile Cookie campaign opens the door to more community involvement and ensures that the funds raised in our community stays in our community. I think that’s something we can all smile about!”
Each “Smile Cookie” sold for $1 (tax excluded) with all proceeds donated to the Reach for the Rainbow. Reach for the Rainbow provides integrated recreation, respite and outreach opportunities designed to engage the hearts and minds of all individuals. Their programs encourage environments for typical children and individuals to live, play, work and inspire themselves alongside children and youth with disabilities, creating transformative experiences of belonging. What makes Reach for the Rainbow particularly unique is the fact that they started out and remain today an umbrella for all disabilities – both developmental and physical. Reach for the Rainbow has for a successful partnership with the Town of Caledon to be able to offer one-on-one support to local children with special needs enabling them to attend local camps.
The “Smile Cookie” program originally began in Hamilton, Ontario in 1996 to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, it has expanded across Canada helping a variety of children’s charities, hospitals and community programs.
